WNCC Instrumental Music Performs in Two Upcoming Music Events

The Instrumental Music Program at Western Nebraska Community College is performing at two upcoming music events, including a free concert for the community. WNCC's annual Spring Band Concert will be held at the Midwest Theater Sunday April 23 at 3 p.m. Additionally, tickets are on sale for WNCC's annual Jump, Jive & Swing community dance.
In keeping with its 90th anniversary celebration, this year's theme for the Spring Band Concert is "The Roaring Twenties," and features Western Nebraska Winds and soloists Austin Sailors, WNCC sax instructor, and Dr. Brooks Hafey, Chadron State College piano instructor. Sailors is performing "A Tribute to Rudy Wiedoeft" and Dr. Hafey is performing "Rhapsody in Blue." All of the music performed throughout the evening is either from the 1920s or about the 1920s.
The Spring Band Concert is open and free for everyone. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.
WNCC's Ninth Annual Jump, Jive & Swing event will be held at the Gering Civic Center on Sunday, May 7. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. for cocktails and live music performed by the WNCC Jazz Combo under the direction of Sax Instructor Austin Sailors. Dinner and dancing begins at 6 p.m. featuring sounds of the Monumental Rock Combo and Fire in the Pan Swingers under the direction of Dr. Johnson. The evening concludes with a dance accompanied by Fire in the Pan Swingers.
Tickets are $20 each and are on sale through May 5. Patrons may purchase tickets by phone at 308-630-6550; online at wncc.edu/performingarts; or in person at the WNCC Foundation office, located at the John N. Harms Center on the WNCC Scottsbluff Campus. All tickets are reserved. To request specific seats, call the Foundation or purchase in person. If purchasing online, best available seating is assigned.
