Program Overview The pre-agricultural emphasis area is designed to provide the student with a course of study that allows him/her the opportunity to complete an AS degree, in addition to the first two years of coursework for articulation with the College of Agriculutural Sciences and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln toward a Bachelor's of Applied Science degree. The bachelor's-level courses through UNL are offered both on the main WNCC campus and online. This allows students in the Panhandle an opportunity to complete a bachelor's degree program at home. 

Objectives
  • Provide a basic knowledge of the natural sciences, allowing the student to develop an understanding of biological, physical, and chemical nature of agriculture and agriculturally related fields.
  • Provide basic knowledge of economics and the role of agribusiness in the global economy.
  • Provide a foundation of communications skills and working background in social sciences which will allow the student to work collaboratively.

The U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that in 2010, the median pay for holders of at least bachelor's degree in agricultural or food science was $58,450 per year.
