Program Overview

The Pre-Athletic Training program, offered at the Scottsbluff Campus, is designed for students wishing to transfer to a four-year institution and complete their Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training. Western Nebraska Community College prides itself on its academic programs as well as its athletic programs. While studying Pre-Athletic Training at WNCC, students will have the chance to work with some of the best athletes within the Region IX Conference and the National Junior College Athletic Association. The core courses for this program include Introduction to Athletic Training, Athletic Practicum 1, and Athletic Practicum 2. The athletic practicum courses provide students the opportunity to spend time directly with the athletic trainer performing treatments or being involved with working during our athletic sports events that include men's and women's basketball, baseball, men's and women's soccer, softball, and volleyball. This allows our students a wide variety of experience working with preparing them into a four-year program. Several students who have completed pre-athletic training at WNCC have transferred successfully to the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Southern Utah University and Weber State University, Utah, and Emporia State University, Kansas.
