Program Overview

If you have a head for numbers and are looking for a stable career, Accounting may be for you. WNCC offers several options for Accounting, including an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration - Accounting, which will provide coursework for the first two years of a baccalaureate degree. The suggested curriculum meets the requirements for admission as a junior to degree programs in accounting at many colleges and universities.

If you prefer to enter the workforce immediately after graduation, you can earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Technology with an Accounting Specialist option or an Accounting Assistant certificate, which will prepare you for entry-level to mid-level business technology positions. These programs are offered on our Alliance, Scottsbluff and Sidney campuses as well as online.

Career Opportunities

The U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that in 2012, the median pay for Accountants with at least a bachelor's degree was $63,550 per year, and growth in jobs was projected to be 13%. The median pay for Bookkeepers and Accounting Clerks was $35,170 and job growth was projected to be 11%.
