Education (Early Childhood)

Start Here, Get There

Program Overview

Early Childhood Education focuses on education majors interested in working with young children, birth through age eight. The course work will provide skills necessary to teach in early childhood environments, and also enhance employment opportunities in such places as school districts' preschool inclusion programs, Head Start programs, family child care homes, child care centers, and other positions related to young children.

This is accomplished through a combination of general education and specific early childhood education courses and practicum field experiences. The program is offered at our Scottsbluff Campus with some classes available in Alliance and Sidney via the Interactive Television (ITV).

Program Outcomes include:

  • Organize learning environments and activities that are developmentally, age, and culturally appropriate
  • Prepare learning activities that promote language and literacy development in young children
  • Prepare and maintain an environment that ensures children's health, safety and proper nutrition
