Program Overview

The Food Service Management program provides another educational opportunity for students in Western Nebraska. By partnering with Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Western Nebraska Community College is able to offer a developed, established, and affordable food service program with experienced instructors to regional students.

General education classes and business classes required for the Food Service Management Focus may be taken at WNCC. The Food Service core classes will be offered online from SCC. The labs will be taught in Scottsbluff if the required number of students enroll. Dietetic Technician Focus will soon be available online.

The Food Service Management Focus program is 113 quarter credit hours with a cost of approximately $9,000 based on 2010-2011 tuition rates. This includes tuition, books, uniforms, shoes, and knives.

Financial aid is available for students who qualify. All students will be required to purchase their uniform, shoes, and knife kit from the SCC approved sources when they begin labs. These must be ordered through the SCC Food Service/Hospitality program by calling 800.642.4075 Ext. 2465.

Classes for new students begin in the fall and spring quarters. A minimum number of students is required for classes to be held. The labs in Scottsbluff will be taught by qualified local adjunct faculty, and SCC faculty will visit lab students at least once a quarter to evaluate student competencies.
